Do the stars truly lead you home?

Sadness is a part of life.

Sadness is inevitable.

But what happens when it consumes you?

I remember reading once that “when you find yourself lost in the darkness and despair, remember it’s only in the black of night you see the stars. And those stars will lead you home.”  

But what about the fact that those stars don’t lead you home?

Sorry. But when you walk around all day trying to keep composed and calm only to go home at night, crawl into your bed, and have tears pour down your face as the darkness consumes you, that is not being led home.

It’s like you’ve forgotten vital parts of your life, such as the sound of your laugh, what the curves of your lips look like as you smile. And truly smile not some forced grimace.

It’s like you have forgotten to feel genuinely happy.

What happens when you go from a person full of laughter and sunlight to feeling like you fell down the rabbit hole with no way out?

People see that you have changed, but they brush it off, “oh tomorrow will be different!” You wish that it were true, but you’re long gone.

They say that you need to recognize that everyday won’t be sunny, but how much rain can a person take?
